Considering Converting Autoanual matic Convertible to a Manual Drive

hello to all, I have a 1988 rx7 coupe that i am thinking about putting a jdm motor in. It is sitting in my parents yard and havee been for the past year. There is a 1990 rx7 convertible that is going for sale in my area that is an automatic. ,y coupe is a manual. I was thinking about buying the convertible abd selling my coupe but i would rather have it in a manual drive. Will it be difficult to convert the automatic convertible to a manual? I know that I would have to install a clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder but i am not sure if spot where they will go a pre-drilles on all models. Never really came up close to an automatic one.

I'd recommend the coupe [for a while I had an 87' coupe and a 1990 vert] the coupe is much more fun IMO..

As for converting it.. You'll want an S5 transmission [the y-bracket bolts on diagonally and is compatible with the automatic crossmember], swap pedals and the pedal rail only [no reason to drop the entire assembly], everything will bolt up except the transmission->body.. For that you want to put the automatic crossmember on your manual transmission, get two pieces of angle iron/steel and drill appropriate holes [look for v8killa's writeup on that, but just use angle iron instead of his crazy layered stuff], you'll have to put some spades on the reverse light wires and look at the FSM to see how to wire the starter/clutch safety [I just bypassed the clutch safety on my swap.. Search for my auto manual posts and you'll find it], also you'll need manual flywheel [or aftermarket to use with your automatic counter weight], master/slave/etc [buy new from Mazdatrix, only about $110], and a manual driveshaft.

Or you can do a clean swap by cutting the mounts out of a donor car, remove the door weds on them Anne welding them onto the auto car.

Ffs autospell on this phone is killing me. Remove the spot welds and then weld them onto the auto car.
