concept behind TPS settings

I had a question as I have noticed I have some adjustment room on the TPS before I trip the voltage range lights. IE: the red one.

I have been playing with this adjustment and have found some odd things. I can control the MPH max per gear. I assume this is because of a better ecu calculation of TP location?

what I am saying is, I have gotten more power and more speed out of the same gear, when I really fine tune the setting to what feels good and pulls hard and still within its range.

what is this doing changing my mixture ratio? is this making the car lean or rich?

thank you

If anything probably lean, but I suspect it would be the 'best' setting as well because from what I hear these cars just DUMP fuel at WOT. I'd like to hear some more details about these speeds in each gear compared with how you set it and such.

What exactly does that mean? How are you quantifying this?

The "Light method" isn't the most precise to begin with.
Get a mutilmeter and see wht you're reading. I bet about 1k at idle and 4-6k at WOT.

okay this is what I mean by goes faster same gears.

I have been driving exact same part of interstate for years now, same car. RX7.

I have been moving my adjustment screw clockwise if your over passenger shock tower.

It was 1/4 turn after getting both lights lit. clockwise. The slot of the screw was inline with front/rear of car. Exactly 3:00 is the position.

Now the screw is @ 4:30.

before I could only get about 80 mph @ 3000 rpms. Now I get 80 MPH @ 2800 rpm. I also pulled over 125 in 4th gear. The car doesn't feel heavy as it did.

It is without a doubt faster all the way around.
The car now cracks the air when you lay on the throttle, its instant, no lag, none. The exhaust sounds more powerful also.

This all was done with stock timing settings.

I am now going to increase the timing and see how much faster I can go.

How can your MPH @ RPM change if there is no change in the gearing?

I don't think it did change any of that.

I don't think the engine was running 100% efficent, as compared to now.

I could not pull 125 in 4th gear before. It seemed to struggle, with more RPMs needed to get the same speed, seems to be BS! but this is what I see.
I would bet I can do over 160 now!

Keep this in mind. I am running 14.2 on stock engine 140,000. It pulls harder now.

I have been driving this same car, same engine since 94. I notice every little change.

Top speed is 172 @ 7500 rpms.

This is with my 0.758 5th gear and a 4.10 rear set

On 205/50/16 tires.

160 mph would be very easy
