Compresssion Testing equipment?
Compresssion Testing equipment?
Is there equipment out there somewhere that will allow you to check compression and coolant leaks on a motor reliably while having the motor outside of the car? I have a two motors that I've rebuilt that I want to test but I dont have a car to do so.
put it in my car and test it
JK Yea you can do what was said before me. "(although you could bolt it up to a bell housing or an empty transmission and use a stock starter with a battery to do it)"

Compression Test with Engine out:Bolt the transmission to the Engine..engine has to have the Flywheel on it..Bolt the Starter iinto it's appropriate Spot.Get a Battery and a Set of Booster cables.Hook the Negative to the Starter Casing,or the Block, whatever ground you like...When you Put the Positive Cable to BOTH connectors on the back of the starter,it Will In Turn ROLL THE ENGINE OVER..so this may be a good method For Two people. One person Inserts the Compression tester into the spark plug hole and "does the Valve trick" on the Comp tester.while the other guy Operates the booster cables..the engien only has to be rolled over for about Five seconds or so,at a time to get readings..and it IS kind of tricky to do with ONE person.so get your Friend to Help..But that is the Gist of HOW TO compression test when the engine is Outside the engine bay.Good Luck.STYX!~please overlook the spelling..I was typin fast!
That doesnt sound too bad at all.
Thank you very much! I need to refill all the oil back into the motor too? What about the tranny? Just asking to see if I would burn anything up otherwise.

pineapple racing has a cooling system pressure tester for newly built engines on their website, look under tools. for some reason their site is down (at least when I try to get to it) but you could call them up.
