Collecting T2 PArts for Swap, IS this needed?

I am in the middle of collecting parts for the T2 swap into my 87 se. I just bought a set of wheels for the SE. Of course they are 4 lug, When i put the T2 motor in am i going to have to convert to 5 lug to handle the extra torque? Or will it be ok to run with the 4 lug hubs? I am upgrading the brakes using honda accord/ prelude slotted disks if i can retain the 4 lug setup... Thanks for the info.

Well, if your swapping to a turbo rear which I assume you will be since your concerned with the equipment to handle the extra power, you'll have the five lugs on the rear. Might as well swap the fronts also. Don't want 4 and 5 lugs on same car.

I would venture to take a guess that you will blow that N/A rear end before you blow out the hubs

That n/a tranny will go out on you. Just look at the torque number b/w n/a and turbo. Huge difference.

Alan at Rotary Power here in SoCal told me he went through 3-4 n/a trannies before finally going to t2 tranny. He hasn't blown one out since.

You have an 87 SE with LSD? You must have swapped that in right?

Like said I wouldn't worry about the lugs.
The half shafts or reaer end would most likely go out before that does.

I'll let you guys know when I blow my NA LSD or half shafts with my setup.

Your worried about the 4 holding up with the turbo. I'd be more concerned about the drivetrain. If your going to switch to the turbo, upgrade the entire drive train. You'll need to do it eventually.

umm also the torque numbers aren't that spread apart.

138 for a S4 NA and what like 170(not positive on this one) for S4 TII?

I am the second owner, this car has all kinds of weird non-se items....
But it was ordered this way from the factory.

I have extra parts..ie two gxl parts cars... Just was wondering if i needed to sell the wheels i bought or if i could keep them...
