Exclamation Cold Start will not go to 3K

When i first got the RX it would rev to 3K and Hold on Start up then Fall when the O2 Sensor got a Reading.
But now when i start it, it go's to about 2.5 or 1.2 or so.. holds for about 8 secs give or take. then Then try's to idle.

Any Idea's?

sounds normal to me, its trying to warm up the engine quicker

does it idle properly when it drops down?

it did not fall when the O2 sensor got a reading......

It only does it when you start in neutral. (or Park with an auto) and when it is below a certain temperature. It was to warm the cats quicker for emissions reasons.
Make sure the AWS system/solenoid are working, and the BAC is operating properly, they are what activate this inital high idle when it is cold.
I always start my car in gear to bypass this damn annoying 3k startup. It goes to 2 K or so, similar to what you described. Alot of people disable this system alltogether, its just annoying, theres plenty of discussion of the 3k startup on here.

So when your car doesnt start at 3k anymore, what was the culpirt for disabling it? My car used to do it, after i researched a little and asked around... i was told that it isnt so healthy on the engine. So i began starting the car in gear (1st or reverse). Which would then start the car without the high rev 3k.

This morning i was curious, and i turned on the car and it didnt high rev to 3k. I didnt care much, but what was it again that disabled it? or... what?

This morning was freezing cold, and im just curious on why it is that it didnt bump up to 3k. Thanks!!

I have a problem like this too. but when start it cold it revs to about 3 then attemps to idle, but it doesnt. I have to give it gas to keep it around 1,500 to 2000 rpms till it warms up.
If i dont let it even get to close to warming up, as soon as I get off the pedal it will just shut off.

ANyone know why it does this?

750 +- and sometimes it will idle at around 1000 for some reason.

But than again. I think my throttle body cable it streched.. So i adjusted idle through throttle body cable adjuster thingy.

But that besides the point?

WHy wont it idle on its own till warms...

well

Once it warms it runs on the O2 Sensor, you might want to check your O2 sensor, the reason being is your stock map is being used when the O2 sensor is unplugged or when its not warmed up.

Try unplugging O2 sensor, running it for a day or two, only thing is it runs on the stock fuel map.

if it runs funky then maybe the cable is too tight for the stock map while its running

See my conclusion?

Yeah, mine does the same thing...on warm mornings it'll rev to 3, 3.5, whatever...then fall to idle...but when it's cold it's just like any other engine and needs time to warm up...just try to let it get close to temperature before you drive it...that's what they told me...and it seems to do just fine...they don't like the cold weather..

i also have a full 3 inch exhaust with no cat at all. So doing it for warming up the cats is pointless.

ANd no i dont understand the conclution dude...

If it runs on the o2 sensor after warm up... why would mine be bad..? My car runs perfect after warm. Its just when started cold. Not cold outside. It could be 90 but just started for the first time of the day and i have to hold pedal till warm.

then you probably have a vacuum leak. my car idled like crap for 2-3 months, then i found one stupid little vacuum hose, and it fixed the idle. i dont have to sit there and hold it at 1500-2000 anymore.

accelerated warmup system. Might just be the thermowax pellet on the back of the throttle body sticking every now and then.
