cold start problems, please help
hi all, having probs with starting rx in morning, have to turn over long time and several start/stops later it'll run but only if you keep revs up 2500plus, will only tick over 3or so mins later, changed plugs recently but was ok otherwise and after plug change. Is an unmodded n/a 86 UK spec. Will start ok if started within previous few hours but if stone cold, embarrasment sets in, please help me avoid shame and curtain twitching neighbours

check the water thermo sensor in back of water pump
check the fast idle system (should keep your rpm at around 1,500 while engine is cold)
there might be other things but you should elaborate more on what the symptoms are.
see www.fc3s.org under how-to's->manuals,
get FSM for your car (section fuel
and emissions)

my god i have dual identity, wondered why my password sometimes didn't work...
there isn't a lot more to tell about symptoms,rthe car runs fine otherwise once warm, there is a hesitation between 3500 and 4000 whilst cold that goes when warm, was having misfire in the past after a long fast journey that was cured by new plugs, then this slightly different prob came after another long fast drive. Lifted plugs after cranking for some time to check for flooding but dry. was going to (always tomorrow,new child and job cramps style!) connect up boost starter to see if battery 'worn' preventing spark power, any other suggestions? will check thermo tomoz, not entirely clear on fast idle system as no UK spec manul exists and i've mislaid my US one....
