cold solder on cpu?

Im having intermitten problems with my factory alarm (sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt) I have heard it might be a problem with cold soldiering on the cpu. Could this be correct? Is it repairable? Where is it? Its a 88 vert
Thanks Dan

Probably not. The 88 (like all S4 models with factory securty) uses a dedicated security brain that really doesn't interface with the CPU, except for the hazard lights.

The most common reason for the factory alarm, not arming, is not locking the door correctly, or a mis-aigned or bad latch switch on the door.

Exactly what is it doing or not doing?

It probably is the user...Im not sure if I am arming it right..
What I have been doing is, sitting in the car 1. reach across and lock passenger door. 2. open drivers door and push the lock down. 3. get out of car and while lifting the door handle close the door..
Is this correct??

Yep, that is the correct way to arm the factory security system.

When you press the last lock down, you should here a slight beep as well on the late 87 and 88 models and the security light should light solid, then flash fast once the door is closed and locked. After that fast flash it should beep again in the inside and the security light will flash once every 3 or so seconds
