Cold idle problems

I just got me my first RX7(it's an 86).HUA!! Anyway, I am having idle problems at startup. When I start the car, it starts right up, goes to about 1500 RPM and sputters and then dies. It continues this way for a few minutes. Once it warms up, it runs fine. It still sputters a little, but I figured it was normal. Can someone show me the direction to go. This is the first rotary I have ever had and I am confused as all hell. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS in advance.

Vacuum

I don't understand how that coud be a problem. If it was, wouldn't the car act up even after it warms up?

I'd start by cleaning the BAC. Also go to my thread
with the subject, " I fixed my Idle problem", and read
it.

Done it, now what?

Thanks for the info! I cleaned the BAC, throttle body, tested TPS, it has one dead spot I think(multimeter went to OL), cleaned the electrical contacts off of it, they were dirty and giving me an intermitent connection. I also adjusted air/fuel mixture and readjusted the TPS. I also reset the ECU and then took it for a ride to give it all the readings it needs. This morning I started it up and it jumped to around 3000 for 5 to 10 seconds and then it dropped off and died. It still does not idle until it warms up, it just dies.

Also, I have a question about the small screw in the front of the throttle budy that opens the primary valve a little more, thereby increasing idle speed by moving the throttles resting area up and down. My question is, how do you adjust this correctly in correlation with the air/fuel mix? Thanks again for the help.

I've never played with the screw you are refering to. Did
you test your BAC after you cleaned it. It sounds like you
have a vacume problem until your car gets warm. You have
two coolant lines running to the BAC. Maybe until those lines get warm yor BAC isn't operating right.

Smile Thermowax

How exactly do I adjust the thermowax. I have been reading around and this does sound like it it my problem, but I can not seem to understand what the hell the Haynes manual is telling me. Thanks!
