I was looking for a cold air intake system for my 91 convertable but I saw that K&N made an intake system that they called cold air intake. You could probably make one for cheaper and just get the adapter, filter, and piping. What it looked like to me is that you can make the pipe and you could drop it down below the intake box where there's that opening out of the bottom of the car. Since the rain has stopped I'll take a pic and show you what i'm talking about.

if you look up the user d-dub he made one out of a prelude cold air intake it has all the right bends . and alot of poeple have gone that route . another option is just making a cold air box and running a tube from the box . that how i got mine set up . hope that helps

TweakGames IS right, all of the info you need can be found by searching, but I will still try and be helpful. The intake systems you found searching, like the K&N system, just replace the factory airbox. On an n/a, this is good only if you provide two other things, heat shielding and cold air ducting. There was a company that offered a full solution but I can't remember who it was and it was $$$. Here's another to get you started:

http://www.mariahmotorsports.com/

They have what you need in order to have a functional cold air intake. But as someone mentioned, it's cheaper to build your own. And if you're comfortable with cutting your frame and really modifying things, then do a search for the prelude intake.

Yea I wasn't sure on the K&N anyways, thats what it looked like to me...lol....I wish I could get a pic to show what I was talking about because they way my 91 looks is that you could you cut and bend a pipe and drop it down right where the stock piping starts to bend downward. I looked and there's an opening at the bottom of the car and that looks like less work and it doesn't look very technical to do. I wish I could upload a pic..lol....anyone know how to upload a pic from a harddrive without that dumb img code?

it has that nice opening at the bottom of the car so it looked like the best place to stick it to get cold air.

the differences between the 'short ram' and the cold air intake arent noticeable imo. on integra i took off the cold air attachment because i was paranoid from water getting in,and after i took it off, i didnt notice anything.

on a dyno there would be a difference between cooler air and hotter air in the engine...

ESPECIALLY on a turbo..

besides there is no worry with lockup due to water with a rotary.. just dont submerge the filter

I made my CAI for $80 bucks using a Prelude intake, AFM adapter, and a Bonez filter.

Just install that, heatwrap it, and call it good. Mine sits in the brake ducts a little bit and hasn't gotten wet. I hope the cool air can help me cool mah turbo.
