Yeah, I was thinking that thing looks pretty dang simple... PVC (or some brass water pipe). Drill/tap/weld in a few nozzles, drill/tap/weld a connection for the feed, get a cheap tank, hose, boom, you're done.
Maybe oversimplified, but crap, there can't be much to it if those starting bids are $80 and he's "custom making" them for your car...

i could make one with my ***, while wearing a blindfold and it would look better than that... i bet it would cost alot less too....

! guy on ebay sells a "boost switch" for like $5... u can set at what boost the switch comes on... something like that to activate it maybe...

mount the tank (walmart item) in one of the cargo bins.
run the lines... with it close you could hand open the tank a quick shot/use..(if you went the cheap route) or open it to get pressure in the system so your solenoid could do its job when ever your trigger went off.

seems like if it was mounted to your FMIC the co2 would be kinda close to actually getting into your intake... that would lower the o2 content of the air you were burning wouldnt it?

**** all this rigging, remove ac and use co2 over a plate/through your stock dash vents... ghetto ac!

just dont breathe too much...

well i went out and priced the stuff... its gonna cost about $40 for the parts.. and maybe 2 hours to install it all...

The one in the ebay add is a small rounded off square. that would be good for a stock top mount IC but not a FMIC...

im plannin on makin one for the stock ic.

Ill post pics when I get the parts in.

why you may ask... I say why not!

I've seen guys use a fire extenguisher on the FMIC before just before staging at the drags. Nitrous does the same thing as it's cold. I wonder how cold the CO2 is? I guess you could use some R34 also or R12 if you still have any and it's cold too.

Yeah, I'd think your big cost is the tank since it needs to hold pressure. If you have a tank, well you're set. Otherwise go for maybe an old fire ext. canister or small propane or butane tank or something. Since you'd have to buy the CO2 at a welding supply shop, they might even have the tank too. Aside from all of that, I think it'd be pretty cheap.

CO2 is cold because it's in pressurized (liquid) form in the tank. CO2 in general is not cold, but just like any compound that is in gaseous state at room temp, it will be extremely cold (read well below 0* C) in liquid form. I supposed I could dig out some old chem books and find it, but it'd prolly be faster to just search the net real quick. I'll let someone else do that. :P

the parts...

there are co2 tanks on ebay for 18.88 new. one guy on there is selling lots of them... they are 20oz tanks. at first i didnt think it would be enouf to be worth it.. but you dont need to spray this stuff all the time... only when showing off i guess..

the piping will run you about $5 - $10 depending on if you go with pvc , copper, or stainless.

high pressure hose (300psi max) is about a dollar a foot.

so id say 10 to 15 feet would allow you to mount it where ever you want.. im gonna put in the the passenger side cargo bin... hidden but can be reached from the drivers seat for use..

Im sure if you wanted to het fancy with it.. valves, triggers and all, then you could without too much extra work but im not sure if it is worth mounting a valve to your dash with a gauge.

Im just going to use the bottle valve to meter and dispence the co2 into the line and onto the IC..

like i said ill post pics of the parst is use and the final cost and install.. im shooting for all function and not much form.. ie.. its not gonna look fancy but wont cost much and will do the job the same

Any comments?

Do a search on the subject -- I know there are those out there that have done it. Honestly, I can't see why it wouldn't work to a point -- just depends on how often you want to refill that thing based on how often you use it.

Technically, any way you can reduce the temperature of the IC itself, the better it will cool. Even if you threw just cool tap water on it, if it was cooler than the actual surface of the IC it would help.

That won't work. Read the link I posted above, it explains why.
