clutch time

well looks like I need a new one.. I was wondering what all I need to completely replace the clutch?

This is for a slightly modded 88 TII. I want a good clutch suited for everyday driving and a little autocrossing. Something that will last a while, but most importantly be at a decent price.. I don't know what all you need, but I'd like to get well made material for around $200 and install it myself. What brands should I look at and avoid?

TIA

First off, don't bother with a parts store clutch - I've seen quite a few disintegrate on ya.

I prefer a full-face clutch disc over the puck discs - it's really hard to drive a puck clutch smooth, but most important it's pretty darn hard on the drivetrain.

For your budget, look at the basic Bonez clutch from RP - I've installed at least 10 of them with great success. If you can spend a bit more, get an ACT - I absolutely love mine. It ain't cheap, though - well into the $300 range.

ACT is pretty much the clutch of choice!

Stay away from Centerforce, there are problems (allegedly)...

I hear the same. I would go with ACT S/S. I know I am
Rx7store.com, nice price with bearings.

I had bad luck with my Centerforce many moons ago. Some people have had great luck, some not, which tells me the quality control isn't what it should be. *Everyone* with an ACT has had great success.

Again, I've also been super happy with the Bonez clutches from RP. I have a feeling they may be rebadged ACT's, though
