clutch slip problem 87 n/a

I have a 87 rx7 n/a with a new clutch, engine and tranmission. When I accelerate normally the clutch doesnt slip however if i take off faster it tends to slip more and more. It only does it momentarily then the clutch will catch again. It will not do it at higher rpms only at low rpm's when i put my foot in it. Can it be my clutch isnt completely broken in, or is it another issue. Does it have a hydraulic or cable clutch and what could my possible problems be??

I have the exact same problem on my 86 GXL. Check your fluid level, and see if its low, or empty. Mine was completely empty when I found the problem. I found a phat leak on my clutch line. So I ordered a stainless steal clutch line, which I'm still waiting for. I've been filling my clutch cylinder daily because I keep loosing a good ammount of fluid. It could also be the master/slave cylinders.

I had a similar problem. Turned out to be the clutch slave cylinder. I put on a new one, and the problem has never returned.

Also, dd you check the flywheel? I had a major slip problem and then got my fly wheel machined and it's better then it's been the entire time I've had the car.

Be certain there is enough freeplay. You need to be sure the thtowout bearing is not riding on the pressure plate and not allowing it to exert full" clamping" power on the disc.

I would put on a new slave cylinder first. They're only about $25. Try aitaclutch.com (I think that's the name.)As for the fluid, I use Castrol LMA (Low Moisture Absorbency.) It's about $7 for the big bottle at Pep Boys. By the way, my clutch did exactly what you described. If I got on the gas hard in 4th or 5th gear, right after a gear change, the clutch would slip momentarily, and then catch. There was no problem at higher revs. The slave cured it. Curiously, when I took the old one apart, there was nothing unusual about it. Go figure...

If you leave the clutch depressed for a long time, does it not spring back correctly?

Slave, slave, slave. Check your clutch release cylinder/slave. Also it'd be good to bleed the clutch after all thats done. You either have air in your system, or slave is gone.
