clutch question

i just finished my s5 jdm TII swap and im running the na drivetrain. when i get the car to about 3k or just really stomp on it the clutch slips if anyone has any ideas of what brand clutch would work well. im pretty sure the tranny is out of an s4 not sure if that could be causing the problem ( dont think so)

More than likely if it drives at all then the tranny is probably not the issue. I would go with a stock clutch. Exedy makes a nice line of stock OEM style replacement clutches. But now if your planning on making big power in the future, then you need to get something from the aftermarket. Whatever you do, DON'T BUY A CLUTCH THAT IS UNSPRUNG. Unless your making a "drag only" car, you don't need this.

A stock NA clutch with a turbo engine sounds like a bad idea... I'd get an ACT or another uprated clutch with a heavy duty disc and pressure plate.

240 is alot to ask out of a stock clutch. One thing I can tell you that it is extremely difficult to bleed the hydraulic clutch systems on FC's... I had to do mine with a hand held vaccum pump. You may want to make sure that it is bled really well and that you have a really good pedal. Also don't forget to adjust the slack out of the top of your pedal as well.

i would bleed the clutch to be safe... and i would never recomend a stock clutch with a car that has that much power

You might want to get a new clutch hose while you're at it... supposedly a stainless steel line will give you a better engagement distance on upgraded clutches (depending on the car, the clutch, and the adjustment).

I've got one (that I coated with rubber to make it look stock, to keep dirt out, and to prevent abrasion) and it seems to work pretty well with my ACT clutch, although I haven't adjusted it yet. The transmission does seem to shift a bit harder though...

BTW, does anyone know how to interpret just what the FSM is talking about when it says how to adjust the clutch freeplay? It has two different specs listed for essentially the same thing.

just a Guess.but wouldn't that be the amount of play before you actually feel something on the pedal..either pushing in or letting it out?./.just my guess..I usually go by "feel"..i have a tendency to rest my foot on the pedal,so I want some play there to compensate for the Weight of my foot Resting on the peadl..I also want the Clutch to Engage, but Not as soon as the Clutch pedal starts to come up from the floor.I give that a little Leeway so I don;t Have to Completely Step all the way down on the pedal..It is better I think, because you don't have to Drive all stiffened up because you hear the clutch rub.If you are in a relaxed position, then it feels better to know that you don't have to Change your body position so that your Left foot can be Fully extended for clutch Engagement/disengagement...It may not come across as Explanatory, but Short Story..adjust the clutch to your driving habits without sacrificing the Components of the clutch..
