Clutch Problems :(

So i was driving the car and through most shift i can hear a little clunk sound. New car so i thought it was just a control arm or something... About 2 mins later the clutch started to get stuck down(not all the way down just some of the way about 1/3 of the way.) I slow down to pull over and i try to downshift into 2nd and the clutch wont engage. I stop and pump the clutch and it gets rock hard. I can drive it now but it engages at the very end when i release. Yes i have fluid and its an aftermarket clutch. Any expierences? Cluth Fork? Pressure Plate? Throwout Bearing? Thanks in advance. 1988 TII

hydraulics?? check your slave cylinder on top of the tranny.

www.nopi.com has good deals on the clutch hydraulics most of the time.

now when it comes to the clunking sound it would be your differential mounts. If your car shakes at a specific speed ( 45 or 60 mph) then it might be a bad u-joint in the driveshaft.

I'm having clutch problems also, I came to figure out it was the clutch master cylinder, So I'm replacing that the slave cylinder and flex hoses.....

if your dad checked it out then you can safely rule that out. Maybe a bad throw-out bearing or release bearing? I remember I destroyed 4 after a new clutch install. it sounded like a "CRACK" then a lot on little metalic drops and rattling ( turned out to be the ball bearings flying all over the place)

Is it staying on the floor? Or are you able to pull it back up and it stay?

if it's the problem i'm thinking about it should not go into gear. the clutch should be nice and tight but the car just won't go into gear.

well the clutch does not stay on th floor. It did stop half way before i pumped it and then it got rock hard. It does go into gear and i can drive it but the clutch engages about 90% up before the pedal is completely release. The clutch whines very low when the clutch pedal is down but like i said i can drive it. No rattling, and i do have fluid. :\

the clunk sound could be excessive play between gears or a warn u- joint, as far as the clutch goes i would have to know what kind of clutch.. normal or puck style, does it still have dampener springs? there could be to much excessive play between the pressure plate and disc.. also check the condition of your fluid and make sure the vent port in the master cylender isnt pluged.
