Clutch problem (searched)

Okay I've got an 88FC n/a while I was driving it I noticed when I climbed rpm's it sounded really rickety then after a few days while driving it suddenly became impossible to get into gear. Now it's just dead in a parking lot if I put it into first and crank it , it won't start it just kind of inches forward and when I have it in neutral and turn it on it's impossible to get into gear.

I've heard it's the pressure plate but if anyone has any idea I'd like to be certain.

Do you still have pressure in the clutch line? (pressure at the pedal). It might be pressure plate...

If it was clutch disc you could get into gear without pressing the clutch with engine on.

check the Clutch line and also the Master Clutch cylinder and the Slave cylindr on the Transmission..I am gonna guess that you Have NO pressure at ALL..Your clutch sticks to the Floor,Right, and doesn't come back up?.Check the Fluid,I am sure you have a Leak.
and IF you have a Leak then Best bet, seeing the parts are 20 years old,Replace the Master.Clutch Hose and Slave.(about 120 bucks,Tops,if you Shop around.)
If you just go about replacing ONE part of those Three, then another part will go,due to excess pressure.and seeing is is just OLD!
If that is not it,post up..and give more info..Cheers STYX!~

my bro had the same issue. clutch slave is usually first to go but save yourself some time and replace slave and master. make sure to bench bleed them first or you will have a hard time making pressure when bleeding

The cylinders could both be good. It could be a leak at one of the fittings or the line itself is bad.

Best to figure out whats wrong rather than replacing everything that it could potentially be only to find out that it's an $18 hose as opposed to $100 in cylinders. Then the OP goes on a killing spree finding everyone that told him to replace everything and wasting money, ending up on the news, etc etc etc.....

I'd be happier knowing that I found the problem and fixed it for as little as possible rather than throwing money away on parts that might have still been good. If the level in your brake master drops, do you replace the master, all the lines and all four calipers? No, you find the ******* leak, and kill it.
