Clutch Problem

I'm working on my RX-7 project and my clutch is the latest problem to come up. I have a good slave cylinder on the car and was able to pull fresh fluid through the lines. I also got a new master cylinder and that hasn't fixed my problem.

The issue is that when I push the clutch pedal, it stays on the floor. I can pull the clutch up and it will stay, but there is no resistance when I push down. It won't stay between, only up or down. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

You check the line going from slave to master?

The master cylinder is brand new and acts exactly like the bad one.

Yea, the line is fine. I was able to use a brake bleeder to pull fresh fluid through the line with the master cylinder disconnected.

Tons of air in the line or a bad master cylinder.

Did you actually get new units? Or rebuild them? Rebuilds don't always work.

prime the master cylinder, connect the hardline, then bleed manually.

If you got the master from a local parts vendor(not a mazda unit) take it back. The chance it was not a working unit when you bought it is very good. Also, When I bought my car it had a leaky master, relaced that with one from autozone, the slave went dead within a few hours, got a slave from autozone, and then both where not working, took them back and went thought the same crap at O'rilly's. 6 master and slaves later, I bought a new slave, master and SS clutch line from mazdatrix, The worked perfect the first time, no leaking, or lack of working in anyway what so ever. I have 6 years exp working with cars, american and imported, and have found that hydraulics, starters, alt's, termostats, water pumps, and a few other items are junk from local auto parts vendors. there is a thread about this in the fourm somewhere. to lazy to look for it. best of luck.

if you changed all the parts and fluid theres a good chance you need to bleed system just as you would with the brakes
