Whenever I depress the clutch it will stay like that, unless I give it a nudge back. What's the problem? Will wd40 do any good?

You have a leak somewhere in your clutch system and you're losing fluid and gaining air. Chances are you can top off the system and manually pump the clutch pedal in hopes of repriming the system or relubricating a seal. If this is a common occurrence (and not just an occurrence because the car has sat for awhile) you do need to address the real issue. The system is really only made up of the master clutch cylinder, the slave clutch cylinder, and a hose that connects the two. One or more of those three things is leaking.

If your going to upgrade the system, you should consider going with a braided stainless line for durability.

Just replace both the slave, and the master. I got everything off of RockAuto.com for like $17 shipped, and the **** works great.

yes- replace all 3 parts, they are inexpensive

 

I had the same problem with all new parts and turned out the rod from the pedal to master needed adjusted.... worked fine after that.

 

Before you go buying all new stuff, check the boot that protects the clutch rod. If it's damaged, water can get in there, rust the rod and make it stick.

 

Actually another thing. When was the last time the brake fluid was changed. Never I'm guessing.

In that case you might try changing the fluid and bleeding the system befor you start replacing parts.

It varies from source to source.

Check the fluid. If its low, replace everything as you have a leak.
If its full, pump the clutch and see if it starts to go back to normal.
-If it doesn't: replace everything as something is worn out and the parts are cheap and the stuff you have is old.
-If it does: replace everything as something is worn out and the parts are cheap and the stuff you have is old.

Haha so either way i have to replace the whole thing. But if it goes back to normal I can just put it off a little longer

When you suspect clutch is losing pressure, You should be changing it very next day.
If you don't see any fluids leaking then it's either slave or master. Change them both because the other will fail short time after.
