clutch noise when pedal is down, but comin from engine bay.WTF?
my air pump is off, thats the only thing wrong with my car besides the owner dosent have a license. I thought it was my brakes at first cause Id only notice it when I would come to a stop. I thought it was my brake but it was more of a rubbing sound, not a grinding. SO when I sit at idle and push the pedal formt he engine bay it sounds like a calm roaring sound. Dosent sound like its coming from under me in the tranny at all. I thought maybe it could be something with the hydraulics, and I right? I bled my clutch about 2 months ago also, and the fluid looks pretty black already. Any ideas?

The throw out bearing is in use when the pedal is down.
If its going bad, or its "dry" it will "roar".
Is your pedal stiff?
does the clutch engage late in the release of the pedal?
if so, get the kit from www.clutchmasters.com
it has a bearing, pressure plate and clutch.
(cheap too)

If its grinding while going into gear, and you have no problem taking out of gear, then most likely it's the synchros in the tranny. Did they replace the throwout bearing (pilot release is it also called? i forget) when you got the new clutch?

It only grinded when shifting into 2nd, but it has stopped since I put redline in, Now itll only do it if I really take 1st to the redline and shift, I just gotta get good at Double clutchin fast. I dont know about the clutch, the previous owner had it done, but the reciept for the clutch kit was $240. I figure Ill spend a hundred bucks and get a new slave cylinder, and a throwout bearing. First I replace the slave cause its alot easier, and if that dosent do it at least Ill have a new one, and then off the tranny will come.

If you have the money, i'd get the tranny rebuilt at the same time as getting the throwout bearing checked/replaced. Mostly because you'll have to be taking off the tranny anyways, and that's where most the labor costs come into play.

Well, the labor is no prob, takin the tranny off is nothin new to me, Im buyin a blown up motor and good tranny from another forum member in march anyways. But, I was just outside ****** with my car and I noticed the noise is the loudest when I first start to push in my clutch. And it really sounds more like air whistling, but its the loudest when the clutch is at the top of its travel. The T/O bearing shouldve been replaced when the clutch was, and Im sure it was, so do you think this sound could be the slave cylinder? You seem to know the most about this, my motor and clutch have 15,000 on it-but the body has 155,000. Im sure the slave has never been replaced before.

The slave cylinder is not a "powered item" its just a device to move liquid from a reservoir into a tube to push a piston.
It make NO noise. (it might creak when your moving it)
thats all.
So its a rotating part.
I bet it the TO bearing or Pressure plate.
Or you may have a bent leaf spring on the pressure plate.
