clutch hell

90 gxl stock

13b

stock 5speed mt transmission

loud screech on start up ( no a/c no ps, depressing clutch pedal does nothing to stop the noise, in Neutral)

lift rear tires start car in neutral (no noise, will harshly shift in only 1st and second; third-R will not engauge (bogs down idle 100-200 RPM))

turn car off, (both on and off ground) all gears shift smooth, no issues, trans internals all check out.

out put shaft end play ok

all syncros ok

lift rear wheels depress clutch shift in R, KOEO, start car, rear wheels spin

master and slave cylinder get full travel, new fluid, no air in the system.

Pressure plate torqued to spec, pilot replaced, trow out replaced.

light rubbing marks on out heel edge of clutch disc (6 puck sprung)

nothing in backwards

lubed bearings

no clutch contamination

no spline contamination

no marks on anything (except clutch disc)

the issue is two conflicting problems, partial disengagement at full rest. (causing noise)

no disengagement at full down (causing inability to select gears)

i have sense came up with nothing (except the grass hut this clutch, PP, and flywheel came out of was a defective one), i have not taken measurements yet and compared to OEM specs

my other idea is, over adjusted push rod causing the partial disengage at rest, and the throw out over extends re-engaging the PP to the clutch and into the flywheel .( they usually break before that point)

any ideas???

Did you use a stock release bearing or some cheap alternative on the fork? I had this issue once the dealer gave me a series 4 instead of a five and it made funky noises. Just my .02cents

transmission checks out ok, all bearings checked, rollers checked, shifts and holds gears, 75w-90 GL-5 fluid, endplay ok, no leaks.

the car worked fine before the clutch was changed from a aftermarket (OE replica) to the same company 6 puck sprung assembly.

and im not trolling guys/

Sounds like you might have destroyed your Pilot Bearing upon trans install.

it was replaced upon first install of new clutch as well.

Can you explain this more? Are there marks on both sides of the clutch?

there is an adjustment under the dash to let your clutch engage all teh way and do the same when disengaging.Look under the dash, you will see the 10?12mm nut that is on the plunger that goes into the Master.

the clutch looks as if it was only grabbing on the heel edge which makes me believe the PP is garbage. but it still makes no sense

My cheap knockoff clutch had a very weak PP, it didn't cause that issue but makes me suspicious of any other cheap clutch kit. If your was weak it could cause noise at start up and if it did not allow full travel it could cause the no shift problem.

See if someone in your area can spec it out for clamping force.
