What are some good clutches and flywheels? my budget is not vary large for these parts and its a stock s5 n/a that im converting to a manual. the car is going to be a daily driver.

i was looking specificly at the XTD stage 2 clutch kit on ebay for about $150
(because its cheep) but i dont know if its any good.link to ebay, XTD

and at the ACT street light flywheel for around $209 + shipping on ebay, or about $215 on other sites. im looking at new ones because i cant find any used near me.

No comment on the rest.

with something like a cluch you really don't want to go cheap. better to just suck it up and take it like a man and buy a good cluch that you know is going to laste you a good amount of time

cheap and rx7 don't go mix

flywheels, ESPECIALLY for NA will always break the bank unless you find a killer deal on a used one

i would go with an ACT SS street/strip clutch kit if i were you and also have the flywheel resurfaced while your at it

this will last you quite a while and will stand up to about 250-300hp worth of mods with no problems

and the key to breaking in a clutch, try not to beat on it for atleast 500 miles

thats not what i wanted to here
well i guess i should be watching for a deal on a used flywheel.
i have a parts car (86 GXL) that if anyone wants parts and has a lightweight flywheel we could work out a deal.

has any one used a XTD clutch, how well did it work?

XTD isn't something I've used.

Exedy and Centerforce and close to the same price and have a quality name behind it.

Not XTD

Don't use it, very simply put.

After less than 20,000 on their stage 2 setup I'm having to replace it. It's slipping so bad that I can't even drive my 7 anymore. i did the jobb right so i know it's not some thing like foreign material on the flywheel or the PP prior to installation. I had the Flywheel turned, to spec, although it didn't need it.

I haven't taken it apart yet, but it feels like the PP fingers are loose, just by the feel of the pedal. It was my daily driver and i was not super erradic on it. My truck clutch takes a much heavier beating and it's a small Dodge D50.

Now after spending the money on a cheap on i will opt for the ACT S\S, spend the money now, you don't want to have to pull that thing apart again.

If its just a DD and you don't intend on heavily modifying it (bridge-port, standalone EMS, etc) I'd just recommend the Exedy/Daikin OEM replacement. Not expensive, excellent clutch kit, and it will take normal and some spirited driving. If you drag the car a lot or abuse the clutch a lot then yeah you'd probably want the ACT SS kit. Otherwise there wouldn't be much reason to get anything other than the Exedy/Daikin unless you prefer a stiffer feel/engagement of the clutch.
