Clutch disk faces which way?

I'm in the process of reinstalling my tranny after screwing it up the first time. I was told my clutch disk may have been backwards. Which way does it go? The side of the clutch disk that stands out more faces the transmission right? The haynes and fsm didnt show very good pics so I wanna make sure.

if i remember correctly, the splined end that stickes out should face away from the trans. do you have an alignment tool?

Longer end faces towards the transmission...
If you got it backwards, you won't be able to engage or disengage the trans, cause the clutch disc is hung up on the back end of the e-shaft.

Actually, it won't go on at all, the longer section of splines will hit the e-shaft, and the pp won't bolt up. I just did this 20 minutes ago.

It should say on the disk, engine/flywheel side. tranny side.

nope, wrong. i had a customer do this a couple weeks ago but i won't name his name to save him the humility, lol. it does take some work but you can bolt the disc in backwards, in a turbo model anyways. tranny went in just fine too since i installed it but i didn't check his work on the pp and disc though so after he got it all together it wouldn't go into gear since the disc had tension on it.

the longer end should go towards the input shaft, not face away from the trans. i was backwards and was thinking of it facing away from the flywheel and said trans.

Alright thanks all, Ill check it out, I'm pretty sure thats the way I had it though. Man I hope its just the disk, this project is starting to **** me off. If my disk aint the problem any other ideas on why a tranny wont go into gear when the car is started? Got a brand new master, slave, throwout, pilot, seal, resurfaced fly, and pretty much new clutch and pp. Tranny is in good shape was told from a friend its got like 20k and some change on it.
