I think, despite some other opposition, I will be going with a 6 puck ACT disk and stock PP (with the money I save on stock PP, maybe I can actually afford to get someone to put it in ) ...although I am aware this is gonna shake the **** outta me for awhile, I like the idea of not having to replace it.... ...and the idea of doing something completely different.... (hey, my engine is already completely different from most cars... so why not my driveline too )

Autocrash, what style (GX, GXL, etc) is your 7? The GXLs and TIIs have a bigger, stronger drivetrain (IIRC.) A 'lower' style/model may not hold up to the pounding too well.

Would someone please post more informed insight on this?

I have a GX... I didn't know the GX and GXL had different drivetrains... do they?? (it's an 89 GX, Canadian model of course ) How am I gonna be able to tell the difference? (distinguishing characteristics?)

and hey, who u calling 'lower'? lol...

BTW, does this mean GXLs have TII drivetrains?

After my GXL was wasted a year and a half ago, I xplanted the engine to my parts car, a GX. I wanted to keep my larger, 5-bolt wheels, so I xferred all the front and rear suspension components. It was actually easier to xfer everything from the driveshaft back in one piece rather than **** with the hubs.

I was told by my mechanic that the xfer would have to include the driveshaft because the GX and GXL used different sizes, or something like that. Everything 'upstream' of the driveshaft is the same between the cars.

And I'm certain that I've heard in several places that the TII is a little stronger. After all, it's the GXLs and TIIs that use the beefier Torsen LSD. The others don't.

Again, corrections are welcomed.

So what your saying is I'm gonna blow up my differential if I go with a 6-puck?

(or maybe blow up something else.... like driveaxles)

I'm not saying that. More like asking. I'll put up a new thread to draw attention to the question. Stay tuned.....

Here it is...

Hope you're okay with the way I worded things (saying 'my friend' seemed like a better call than saying 'another Forum member, which would raise the instant question, 'What's wrong with this guy that he didn't ask himself?')
