Clunking sound from front end at full wheel lock

OK here's the prob. If I'm stopped and going to pull a u-turn or something where I do a full wheel lock, when I start driving there is a clunk sound and it feels like the wheels skip back. Also on some uneven surfaces the car kinda 'wanders' like a bad alignement but it's inconsistent sometimes it pulls right sometimes left and sometimes it's pretty straight although it does need an alignment because it's usually pulling a bit to the right but I have to change my front wheel bearing before I can do an aligment. What do you guys think it is tie rods? ball joints? steering rack? Something else?

Does it happen with wheel lock in both directions? Check and see if the tires are catching on the inside of the wheel well.

It's not a rubbing or catching, when it clunks I can feel the clunk through the steering wheel and it feels like if I'm at full lock left that the wheels skip to the right when it clunks then it goes back. I'm not sure if it does it going to the right because I only notice it when doing a u-turn or 3-pt turn.

Same thing is goin on with the RX7 im test driving for a few days, I think it might be a Tie rod issue, when i turn left i get the cluncking and the sterring wheel back and forth thing, in a straight line it drive straight but you can see/feel the steering wheel moving back and forth like the front wheel(s) are moving back and forth ever so slightly.

On this one, i turned the wheel all the way left and got out and looked at the tie rod and the inner TR boot is beat to **** and crumbling.

Im just guess but i think its the tie rod causing it

the same thing happened with my rx-7 the last time I drove it (which I admit, was a while ago lol) I don't really get the wandering thing, but I deffitly have the same clunking thing going on. anyone know what it is? my tie rods and stuff should be fine. I'll have to check them next time I'm home.

jack up the car grab the tire wiggle it left to right, if theres play check the tie rod, then up and down, if theres play check the ball joints, if you feel play in all directions, probably wheel bearing. just my s cents, maybe that will help you or give you somewhere to start. Jay

Heres what i found out on mine:
Jacke dup the car, the wheel has movement up and down and left and right and every other directing, Its not alot but its there and noticable.

When i do move it the only thing i see moving is the hub assembly, i dont see movement in the ball joint or tierod

Wheel bearing?
