Fuel Pump - Been Sitting In A Parts Car - Safe To Use?

I have an 86 N/A that has a Turbo fuel pump in it (bought it that way). I hadtwo parts cars (N/A) so I took the fuel pumps out of them. However, they'd been sitting in the same gas for probably 5 years.

My question is:
Are they safe to use/how do I test if they are?

It should be fine to use. Any crud in the pump will be caught by the filter. Now after sitting 5 years I doubt it will work, but it's worth a try.
