sounds like your starter i had the same exact problem. went through buying a ignition switch(didn't fix it). new wiring harness(didn't fix it). then i finally bought a starter(never had a problem again). i did run new wiring to it as well but that because i relocated my battery. it may test good mine tested good for the 5-6 times i had it tested, but put in a new one. try running a new power wire first as it will be cheaper to try that. then if no fix buy a starter let us now how it goes

Yes, check the starter, sounds like you might have worn starter contacts.

You can pull out the starter and bench test it to see if the plunger engages.

When my battery is low I get just clicks, so maybe its not good contact?

yeah even a bench test can prove good my starter engaged and spun like crazy i thought but i think it was just worn out and when it hit the fly wheel it couldn't turn under a load you know what im saying and thats all mine did was click click them saying "wtf is wrong" actually try tapping the back of the starter with like a ball peen hammer while some one is trying to crank it just an old school trick i learned from my dad. some time the starter brushes rust and sieze and if you give it a good tap it could break it loos and work if it does it just get another starter cuz it will sieze again.

Get under your car and hit the starter with a hammer, just a good thump. If it then proceeds to work again the starter is basically done and should be replaced (hammer trick seems like a diagnostic measure instead of a treatment).

Or so I've heard ....

let us know im betting it tests good. but when you put it back in it may start up but if it does turn it off and try again. as mine started up but my car died after(new motor i was working with) i went to turn the key again and CLICK!!. i was pissed it would do this everytime i would get it tested and put it back in. im saying test it more then once so you don't think its fixed go to work and get stranded lets us know though i do recommend just getting a starter but hey it may be something else

and get it tested at more then one place as in take it to kragen as well and maybe another auto parts store the more people you can get to test it the better

and to the other question front rotor= #1 rear rotor= #2

stated you have a low battery..try it Fully charged.(or switch for a good battery)if the battery is below 11 volts the Engine won't start..you will get the clicks you are talking about...**** Rereading now..Check the Ground going to the Bell housing,Follow the main wire with the stripe from the battery to the Block. Also check the fuse block engine bay,the main wire there.and another thing is make sure the wires are on at the starter correctly.Try also to Tap the solenoid on the starter.and finally give the Main relay(silver box by the Sec coil) a Tap...it does sound like starter too, though,,can you throw a used one on to compare?

To the previous poster, he said he got a new battery.

I had a similar problem. It would just click at me, but when I took it off it tested fine. It turns out that the wires on the battery terminals were badly corroded. I took them apart and cleaned them and it works fine now.

ok i know why i click but not turn over...it was because the battery i switch too was weak and doesnt have enough volt to turn it....now i put in another one.....this time it would turn over but wont start.....i tried unflooding it and still wont work...or was it still my battery was too weak....when i have my old engine with that weak battery it would still crank and start but i wont do that on this rebuilt one.....the one that in the car now was 660cca and 800ca.. the one that is with the car was 725cca and 990ca....here's my plan for now...take my old battery to autozone and charge it before i go to work and then when im off ill go pick it up and put it in...hopefully this time it will start....since it more powerfull than the other two...

most likely that plugs goes into the ack of the alternator look at the back of it it should have a place to plug into and for the stalling read the fsm it will have some trouble shooting pages in it that explain hot start problems

First clicking issue.
Your battery terminal connections need to be checked. Clean them and tighten them down.

If it still doesn't work then check your starter connections before thiniing it's iginition switch.

Running issue.
First check with a mutlimeter that you are getting 13+ volts. If not then your just running off the battery and it'll eventually conk out.

how long does it run? if only a few seconds then maybe the AFM isn't connected(and your just running of fuel priming).
Then check your manual idle screw on the top back of the TB. Make sure it's not missing or screwed high enough to keep the motor idling.

THen maybe you've fowled the spark plugs. A fresh set may help the situation.

If it doesn't start via starter cranking then check your timing. I had mine off so bad that it would only run via push starting.

It's most likely for the ACV. The alternator plug is white/opaque.
I'm assuming this is S4.
