clean intercooler w/ gasoline?
I read on 1300cc.com that you could run gasoline through your intercooler to clean it out. I thought it sounded weird.
So I searched on cleaning parts but didn't come up with much useful info. Since I am going to have the intake manifold, turbo and exhaust manifolds off this weekend, I was wondering what parts should be cleaned inside and out, and what stuff works well for cleaning them. This is on a '88 S4 TII. Thanks.

For cleaning purposes, any gasoline will do.
I used gasoline to remove 15 year-old glue from the doors of my old Jetta (lady still had those plastic door-edge protectors on it!) when simple green worked but required a TON of elbow grease. With gas, it came right off.

I have NEVER seen a dirty (on the inside) FC intercooler, though, so youmight not need to worry about it.
I've got like 5 of them in my garage, and they're all clean inside.
