Question Cigarett lighter power source alternatives

Ok I was hooking up my G-tech and it didn't light up so I checked the leads on it for power with a circuit tested and I got nothing. I was wondering if I could use the leads off of the light bulbe that is used to light the ring around it and the inside of the ash tray. Would that be able to handle the G-tech's draw?

Should be able to, I've hooked up stuff for power source to the cigarette lighter bulb a few times with no problems.

I dont know exactly how the G-tech takes readings, but if you just plug it into your cig lighter to work, that is fine.

As long as it sees 12 volts you're good.

Did you check your fuse for the power outlet?

at first my cig lighter didnt work so i routed a few other sources to it... problem i ran into was that i had a few other things running off of it as well. the other things had plently of power but my radar detector didnt get enough power. i ended up puting in thicker wiring and more ground and now i have quite a few things running off the power that goes to that bulb.

Does g-tech read rpms? I thought it was a balancing thing, where it took the force that is put upon it vs. time to get a reading? I mean... how does it know what redline the car has? Or what gear ratios? Or anything? It needs all that if it's going to do it based off of rpms.

The high end G-tech reads RPMs IIRC anyhow I just got back from doing the first runs. MAN AM I SWEATY! I had to shut down before the sixth run. I have a small coolant leak that I have to fix. I think i'll just cut it down to 5 runs per setup because i'll run out of time if I fix the leak then go back and do a run and then come back and swap exhausts again.
