Choosing microtech over haltech.

I think Im going to install a Microtech MT series standalone vs haltech.

Price being #1

Another being is (after reading documentation) the microtech seems a lot simpler to install and tune than the haltech. For the 325rwhp or so Ill be pushing, I don't think Ill utilize the full use of a haltech e6k.

The microtech can be purchased from my local rotary mechanic who has used them before for somewhere in the 800 dollar range for everything needed to install.

I don't have tons of information on the microtech, nor have I barley heard of it....but the mechanic who has done most of my engine work (does good work) has used microtech on a lot of his spec rx7 race cars at the track and has had good results with it.

So I quess Im kinda putting my car in his hands. He seems to think that my car will benifit just as well than with the haltech with the plus side being cheaper and the plus that he has years of experience installing and tuning the microtech systems with great results.

Has anyone ever used a microtech? Any feedback would be great.

I've heard there are issues with the Microtech - it is less expensive, but it isn't as accurate when it comes to timing and the like.

A big plus, though, is having someone local to install and tune it - that's always a big factor with any standalone.

You might want to talk to Matt/The Hitman and ask his opinion - I know he's not a big fan of Microtechs, but tell him your situation and he can probably give you an honest answer. He does know Microtechs and has installed/tuned a few.

Did the latest microtech come out yet? I had heard the new one took many more samples/sec and had more points between 3500-8500 rpms.

Haltech is the only ECU that natively controls the OMP (Oil Metering Pump) that I know of.

The new versions have been out for a while. They look good compared to haltechs. But I have no experience with either. But I plan to use a Microtech in my Turbo car.

Notice how those "porno's" both came out right before the simple life? I had never even heard about Paris Hilton untill the first home made porno came out, and then all of a sudden she's on a tv show, hmmmmm. And then another one comes out weeks before the simple life 2, very interesting. It was all set up I tell ya. Plus in the first or second, cant remember which, you can hear people in the background talking and walking around in the video.

I'd hit it, but I would never introduce them to my parents?

Seriously, I'd recommend the unit that you can get the best (local) tech support for.
It sounds like you made a good decision.
