chirping noise when running...

sounds like a chirp chirp chirp of a bird very lightly under the steering column... i only hear it when im at idle... i never pay attention to it other than then but im positive it chirps all the time.... like i said its a very light chirp .... a pretty constant chirp in pattern... like the chirp u hear when leaving the lights on after shutting the ignition... but alot lighter sounding...chirp chirp.....chirp chirp....
what might this be guys? i have explained it to the best of my knowledge..
thanks
jack

Could be your pilot/throwout bearing making noise. But its more of a squeek.

go get in yo' phat ride. And let her warm up and idle her. Press your clutch in slowly and listen for a change in "chirping". If so, T/O bearing (yes.. i know you SWEAR its not the T/O bearing, but, have you really tested it?) If it doesnt change, it *could* be a pilot bearing. Could be a belt....... ****.. could be your damned motor mount chirping.

I had an air filter one time (cone type) and the metal on the end rubbed through my paint and started chirping... it took me damned months to figure out what the hell that chirping noise was, LoL. Anyways, moral of the story, just.. look for ****. yeah.

the reason i know its not the pilot or the throw out...
just replaced the pilot 2 months ago and i know what that sounds like.....car chirps out of gear.... its not the chirp u hear from the pilot...wayyy diff.... sounds exactly like the chirp chirp the cpu makes when ignition is off...just lighter sounding... it has a steady pace to it...... chirp chirp .... chirp chirp..... chirp chirp...

chirp chrip chrip

Are you sure its not the power steering my GXL used to make some beeping noises because one of the sensors had come lose. It only did it at around 55+ i belive the powersteering turns down the boost assist to keep you from dieing if you over correct in a high speed turn. I'm not to sure but might be worth a check.

its suppose to beep if ur p/s is off or screwed up.

since u dont have p/s anymore that is prolly the reason why u got that beeping sound. you prolly forgot take out a wire or sensor on your car.

I remember reading about a guy with an FC whose car alarm would chirp while driving. Maybe it's that...
