It is true that often when seals break they damage the turbine wheel(s) on the turbos. You can continue to run them afterwards that way but spool may be slightly affected. I do not know about the affect on top end power, whether it would be significant or not.

But yeah, most people don't fool with stock twins when trying to make power these days...most are damaged or worn out, are expensive to try and go through, and will never be like new again anyway. Plus all that cast iron hardware on the side of the engine is a giant heat sink, retaining and radiating a lot of enginebay heat.

At least with a single you have less surface area of exhaust parts and plumbing, and it is easier to wrap/blanket your manifold/turbine/downpipe. I can actually pop my hood after having been driving and touch the turbo blanket or downpipe for a couple seconds, it is that effective.

 

i couldnt tell you how many times ive heard my dad repeat the stories of how in his old 280z he used to strap a carseat in with the luggage tie down straps in the back and go road trip with my sister in the carseat in the back.

of course this was around 20 years ago, so i doubt that would fly today.

As many baby-boomers have noted, it's a wonder we're still alive, at all. Riding bicycles without helmets and assorted pads, swimming in lakes and ponds, and generally doing things that today's safety ***** assure us will cause immediate and universal death sure was fun.

I just came back from Philipines and several other countries in southeast asia.

No car seats there, its amazing how all the safety hype falls away when people are thin because they don't get enough to eat, not because they work out allot and want to be thin.


Edit: The seat I have is a baby trend toddler seat from target. It looks ok, fits good in the FC but I bought it because it was by far the sturdiest that I found between target and wallmart. There are several seats where the top comes off the base to reveal a booster seat, these arent sturdy at all. Looking at the overall structure the baby trend won out.
