my fc project

i bought an fc for 500dollars... nice body no rust no wrecks but the previous owner had done a nasty paint job. well the first thing i noticed wen i popped the hood was that he had done a tune up and put the trailing plugs on the first rotor and the leading plugs on the second rotor... so i figured hey maybe i can get a hell of a deal. bein the engine had a mere 80,000. so i towed it home and got the plugs right. changed the oil checked fuel pressure. typical stuff like that and well she didn't start... well after that i decided to tear it down after finding out that i had the sixport nonturbo motor. well all i can say is this punk didn't know a thing about rotarys. he'd done a t2 conversion. and simply bolted on a s4 turbo and all the other basics. held custom modded the wires. so he could use the original harness on the s4 turbo conversion. he also removed the oil metering nozzles so the motor is screwed up.

i didn't know. so oh well. its still got a good body with no rust. now i live in alaska... now most of you are like isn't that where they live in igloos and dogsleds to school. but for those of you who are geographically inclined understand that simply getting a rotary here is well difficult. so i have a thousand differnt paths to choose from. because if im gonna eat the shipping im gonna make it worth my while.

i am a mechanic and also am a certified welder. so brackets and such are no problem i can make what ever i need. but i have the extremely rare opportunity to work on rotaries becuz of my location. so all of this to simply ask does anybody know if you can bolt the six speed rx8 transmission to the twin turbo out of an fd? see i figure yeah they will because its still a 13b motor right so makes sense. but i do not know for certain and nobody local has been able to help me out.

also i will be uploading pics of my fc as soon as i figure out how to load them up to the computer. thanks for the knowledge ppl.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you need the cltch, flywheel and pressure plate from an FD. But why down grade to an RX8 tranny when you can use the FD one?

And just a heads up, A 13-REW swap in an FC is never a good idea cost wise. You can easily get the same power out of a 13B-T and it bolts right up.

Plus using the engine from a FD will be quite a hassle unless you already plan on making big power. You will need a standalone for example.

A simple search would have answered your questions.

Here's a lot of info regarding the 13B-REW (that's the twin turbo engine):

I then searched the 3rd gen forum (where the 13B-REW is stock) for "RX-8 transmission" and came up with this:
