check this engine out!

there's a guy here in Oz who has gone S_P_A_S_T_I_C on his Series5 RX7.

Every single nut & bolt has been removed and modified to improve it.
It is seriously gonna be one of the sickest FC's on Earth when he gets it finished.

Robin, if you are reading this, fill them in on your car! The World needs to know about it!

check out this engine. Mental!

Nice polish work...but is it fast?&nbsp I already know of a few FC's that run in the 10's and 9's no problem...

I don't see this engine producing that much power due to the current fuel injectors being stock 4x550 + 2x550 on the AIC.&nbsp That'll only support barely 400hp?

well 4x720 will get you over 400 at the wheels. which is 2880cc, 6x550 is more.. probably good for 500 at the flywheel is which quite a bit. what I don't get is how you could spend so much $$ doing that crap and then use a AIC with I assume the stock computer. get a dam standalone!. and if my engine looked like that I wouldn't even drive it... to spend the time and money on something like this it has to be a pure show car which I think are dumb. and if you do drive the car the way it should be it's going to get dirty. so once again you are dumb for spending the money...

so in conclusion, this engine is dumb

Is the little green man rearing his ugly head a bit
The guy who built that engine is quite pragmatically minded. That engine, and his car in general, are bullet-proof. I don't doubt that it is gonna take a caning when it is all back together

In his own words...
The ultimate aim is to do some club events, 3 lap sprints and the like, as
well as keep it for show, etc. I was thinking I might see if a mag is
interested after I have finished the build.

Here's some info on the engine,
S5 engine, Dowelled, extend port, three window bearings, hardened stationary
gears, locked rotor gears, Hurley engineering oil mod to rotors, ceramic
coated rotor faces, e-shaft oiling mods, re-nitrided plates, Hurley 3 mm
race apex seals, competition bearings and trust bearing assembly, 90 psi oil
regulator, sump baffle plate, ported and match flowed customised manifolds
with 6 injectors (2 x 880cc primary, 4 x 550cc secondary), full custom fuel
rails, SX fuel press regulator, custom duel wastegate port ceramic coated
turbo manifold, 60-1 ceramic ball bearing Turbonetics turbo, Turbonetics
Racegate, Direct Clutch twin plate clutch, plus a heap of other mods.

As for what other things are planned,
1. I've started on the 330mm front brake conversion.
2. Convert my existing Gab adjustable struts to coilovers
3. Custom bonnet (I've got an alloy turbo bonnet that I'm going to cut up)
4. Custom front nose to suit the front mount IC install
5. Install the Haltech E6K that's been lying around for 9 months.

The car already has a lot of mods (over when you saw it last) but I can't
list them all causes there is too many. I have done all the work myself,
because there is no one around who is as fussy a bastard as I am, and most
workshops are interested in the money not the workmanship. The guy in
Gippsland (who has all the parts), is the only exception, he is A1, but he
is bloody slow, cause he is so meticulous, like 3 months to build an engine.
He measures every factory components and refuses to use anything that is
even close to being out of spec. Results are fantastic, prices are as
expected, but you have to wait.
everything on the car has been modded.
i assume he won the Lotto to afford it all.
I have seen more pix of it on his Notebook, and they are ALL insane.
This guy has taken it to the "nth" degree.

here's another two pics:

IS this the same guy who thinks BOV's are evil?
Nope. That guy is a fiend that tunes cars for massive amounts of reliable power. The guy who owns the engine i put pics up of is a very intelligent completist. Literally, and i mean literally, every last nut & bolt has been improved, hardened, modified, whatever, to make it indestructible. The *last* thing that engine (and the car in general) is is a fairy-floss mobile.
It is going to put down some serious power, and do it in serious style.
his friend has a Series5 as well that has the entire 13B-REW twin-turbo set-up, loom & all, from a 2000model series6, rebuilt as soon as it wsa pulled from the car (even tho it only had 200kms on the clock or something) so these guys don't go halfway in anything.

I used to think *my* car was getting somewhere, but seeing cars like these makes me realize what a piece of **** it is in comparison.

Wait til it is all done, i'll get some pix of his car and put them up.
He doesn't seem keen on publicity, but as far as i am concerned, the World needs to know about beastly RX's like these!

A question about the braided stainless fuel lines. Earls and Aeroquip say their clamp on lines are not for use on fuel injected cars. What kind are these?
