check engine lights just comes on
check engine lights just comes on
like the title said while driving my check engine light will come on ( sometimes ) and when it does and i press more on the gas i just sputtering and bogging. when i turn the car off and right back on the light goes off and the car runs fine. what would cause this to happen?
mine does. before i would get that stuttering and i traced it to a loose bolt that holds the fround for the engine harness. its behind the oil filter kinda. i tightened it and i dont get any of that stuttering. but now when i drive a lot, like drive hard for a long time, the check engine light comes on and my tach dies, but none of the stutter. i think engine flex causes the bolt to slowly come loose.
Extract the codes from the ECU to find out what sensor is tripping the light. If your cars an S5, just ground the single connector green plug on the driver side near the strut. Then turn the ignition to on, and read the flashes.
Do a quick search for "extract check engine codes" and you should find all the details you need on this. Then when you discover what's causing it, search for problems with that device/sensor.
You can check here http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/article...odes/main.html for one way to do it, but YOu can get the check engine light to flash the codes too by using a single wire to ground the single connector green plug without building the LED checker. just not sure if t works on S4s.
I have a light tester anyways for my TPS that also works for ECU codes.
