Check Engine Light on During Shifting?

I just got my car moving again (thanks for the tips on the walbro pump guys.) and now when I shift the check engine light comes on...the car seems to be running just fine, but the light is making me wonder. I have the standard problem of the dash lights popping on all the time, but when this happens the check engine light is the only thing illuminated. Any ideas guys? Thanks.

Can you start the car w/o pushing the clutch in?

My car is doing this. At first the check engine light would only turn on when shifting like you describe. Now it sometimes stays on at idle, and turns off as soon as you touch the throttle. If I drive the car for 5-10 minutes, the CEL stays off, but if I then let it idle for a few minutes the problem usually returns.

It's throwing two error codes: TPS and MAP.

A mechanic says that he thinks it's "a false code", possibly caused by faulty wiring.

I don't know if our check engine light problems are related, but when I solve mine I'll post here.

Cool, thanks man. I'm going to check out my TPS in a few days, but today I found an issue that may or may not be related...I need some spark plug wires. If I find anything out I'll let you know.

I've just put on the new ignition wires and...it still comes on. Bleh. I'm going to check some other odds and ends and see if I can find anything out.

I fixed a small vacuum leak, and the check engine at idle went away. I still have CEL when shifting, and it's only complaining about the TPS now. I guess that a problem with the TPS is causing the CEL during shifts.

I'm going to check for vaccum leaks in a few days, when I get the chance. I hope its not the TPS sensor, those things cost a lil bit.

Yeah, it idles rough, the standard idle jump issues at start up. When its warm it does fine. It seems to take longer to start now that we put in the replacement fuel pump...abotu 10 seconds of cranking as oppossed to the 2-3 it took before.
