check engine light and bad idle

Having a problem with my fc. Sometimes when I first crank it up I have to give it a little gas until the check engine light comes on. Once it turns on she runs like a champ. But when it doesn't come on is when the problems happen. It idles low and misses until about 1500 rpms and then it runs smooth. Today it died on me and I couldn't get it to crank so I figured it flooded itself out. I removed the 30 amp tgi fuse(I think thats the name) and turned it over for 10 seconds because that helped last time it flooded. Got it home and its still idling low and when I press the gas it sputters until about 1k rpms then gains fine. Please help me figure this out seeing as how I go a new job and made the mistake of using my 7 as a daily. Thanks in advance.

Some will tell you to check compression for starters. You might have clogged primary injectors among other things. Is this an S4 or S5?

So from what your saying , once the computer sees it ,
it's by-passing it , and you can run like a champ?

What's bugging me is sometimes it doesn't do it. This makes it hard to solve. When accelerated warm up works (3k rpm start up) the problems happen. A while back it went limp and wouldn't rev over 1500 rpms and mysteriously stopped after 10 minutes and ran fine. How can I check to see if my injectors are stopped up? If its tps can I use the tps off an automatic or is it different? Car is an s5 n/a

Trouble shooting really is a hassle with all the sensors on these cars but I'm slowly learning more. Thanks

Pull codes (again). The problem of not going above 1500 rpm sounds like the OMP might be going and causing limp mode possibly.

I didn't know how to read codes so I looked it up and figured out how. It read the code for coolant thermosensor and sure enough that was the problem. Swapped it out and she fired right up. No more irradic idle and no more check engine light. Thanks guys
