check engine light

ok so it comes on then goes off, this has done this for about 3 days....my clock fades in and out....what would be the problem of y the e/c light comes on ?? can anyone help??

Me too..... I'am new here, got my first 89 RX 7convertible nonturbo today as a daily driver. I bought the car for cheap...
I got a problem with engine light too. it doesn't go out and the tranny too. If I shift it to 3rd to all last gears, I press the throt. pedal just in half slowly. I'am having a problem gaining speed. somehow Weak acceleration specially the 5th gear when at speed of 90mph/6krpm and trying to give a little gas. its drops at 3k rpm .
its soo slow, even at full throttle the RPM drops fast....

pretty straight forward, one long flash of the check engine light is a 10, one quick flash is a 1... so if you get one long flash, and then 3 small flashes, it would be a 13.

zero zen does your clock work...but dosnt keep the right time and go out every now and then?? Mine is a daily driver t2 this **** is stupid

My clock is always stuck at 1:00 everytime i start it. I haven't bothered to look into it at all, nor have i attempted to adjust it. It fades in and out as well.

prolly a bad ground. Somewhat of a common problem with these. I had a bad battery and all that **** happened too... and occasionally the tach would jump when i turned the key to 'on'

shitz...alot of them.....my doors won't lock even I try locking it from the inside or using the key from the outside. no clock. after the engine is warmedup, the Check Engine light is on.
While the gear are engage to all speed. the throttle is so sensitive, giving a half or full throttle. You wont have any acceleration. I hope this car wont kill me on my other project going on right now.

Zero zen, did you remember to hold the door handle up when you closed the door after you locked it? Otherwise it just pops back unlocked when you close it.

The clock/idiot lights on these had some shitty soldering jobs on them. I re-soldered mine and it worked right for a while then quit again.

I did try retrieve the code. It gave from the flick of the key to ign set " 1 sec On, 1 sec off, then back to forever On". I tried to understand the code translation but I'am not good at it.

Same I said before weak Acceleration in 5th gear, stays on 3k RPM. I tried giving a half throttle, but RPM just keep dropping to a minimum and never reach 4-5krpm. Same thing to 1st 2nd to 4th gears, After releasing the clutch, the giving full gas or 2/3 throttle. The RPm reach 4k-5k but the speed is still the same. It this normal to rotary engine or just me. I cannot give a half or a full throttle to the engine while I'am driving. I only give it a 1/3 or 1/8 of it to accelerate, Gaining speed is to hard....

short - short - long or whatever...
We can help you decode the actual numerical error code.

The problem might be the tranny after all. Sorry, didnt understand u befor.
Your clutch, It's slippen.
My brother was trying to do a burnout/brake-stand in his 90 gxl, he reved it to 5k and dropped the clutch, but the tyres didnt spin and the engine's RPM's just went down, the car pulled away slowly. After that, the smell of burnt clutch was in the air.
