Question Cheapest place for 3mm rebuild kit???

Gonna be rebuilding the 91 TII soon,
and I was wondering where the best place for a kit is...
I'm doing the rebuild and porting myself...
Just need the seals and junk.
Lemme know what you know!

to put in 3mm seals your rotors have yo be "milled" to spec if they are in stock condition/state. That doesn't= cheap. I'd say talk to RA for their kit.

Why go 3mm? Even RB says that is a bad idea...

For a non-turbo car is what RB said it was a bad idea for. Nowhere does it say anything about a turboII.

I still say rotary aviation is the cheapest place to buy 3mm. I'm not going to go either way of dictating wheather or not 3mm or good or not. I know if your groves are too worn out for 2mm then you should get them milled for 3mm. Are you going to be running some crazy boost and a standalone or whats the deal. Let us know some more details.

Thanks

Curtis

I definately don't plan on running a standalone ecu...
The most boost I'm planning for is maybe 15-18 psi,
but the engine will be streetported as well...
Here's what I plan for...

All emissions blocked off
FCD
S-AFCII
CAI
3" turbo-back exhaust (dual configuration)
720cc primaries/550cc secondaries
Cosmo 20B fuel pump
HKS exhaust manifold w/40mm internal WG
BOV
boost controller
possibly microtech plug-in?

That's just the basics...
If anyone has any comments on this setup, feel free...

sounds similar to what I am setting up except walbro 255 pump, 3"tid, tb mod and port and no a/c or ps, t series turbo this summer. then next winter its time for a big street port, rebuild and stand alone.

I think you've got some info mixed up.

First the stock turbo's destroy themselves over 14-15psi.
So you will run a max boost of 13 if you like your turbo.
If you go BNR staged or T04 turbo then it is different efficiency ranges.
You mention the HKS manifold and WG so maybe this is what your talking about.

Not sure if you mistyped but you want the 720's to be your secondaries and 550's to be your primaries. You use a shitload of fuel higher up and the stock 550's can't do much over 10-12psi. This also keeps your low rpm and idle characteristics good.

I didn't know microtech even made a piggyback/plugin. So far the only guys I know are the Rtek people which is just a chip replacement.

Honestly I don't know anyone which is running 3mm seals.
They can take a bit more abuse than a 2mm but that just means you need to learn how to conservatively tune the car.

guys around here are still running 2mm's and are pushing 300hp+

Well I had planned on upgrading the turbo
before I started boosting it that high...
I shoulda mentioned that...
What type of turbo would you recommend for a
streetported motor to make a safe 350whp with minimal lag?

Thanks for the correction regarding the injectors...
I meant 720 secondaries... lol
And I thought Microtech made a plug-in...
Guess I was wrong...
What would be the best bet for an ecu,
bearing in mind that a standalone isn't financially possible?
I'm looking for a good plug-in setup...
As far as the seals go, I guess I may just go with the upgraded 2mm's...
Thanks and please respond!

I beleive BNR Stage 3 can readily handle it, safely.

From the rx7store.net

Detailed Description
Stage 3 : The stage 3 turbocharger upgrade for the S5 RX7 consists of a modified 60-1 compressor wheel, T04B compressor cover package with dynamic seal backing plate and dynamic sealed thrust collar. Turbine wheel is clipped to spec to decrease back pressure and help stabilize rotating assembly RPM. The Rotating assemblies are balanced and blue printed to minimize vibrations and to give you a more reliable turbocharger upgrade. The stage 3 turbocharger has a 360 thrust bearing option for the people running 15 psi or more. The wastegate is ported, and the turbine housing inlet is portmatched to the gasket. The stage 3 is capable of 340-350 RWHP at or below 15 psi on a properly modified car. The car will reach peak boost at an estimated 4K rpm.
