cheaper intercooler kits

im in the middle of putting a single turbo on my fc and was wondering if anybody knows if there is a cheaper alternative for a quality intercooler kit either than greddy or blitz. Im not talking about buying a spearco core and making custom piping but does anybody like spearco make a kit for the fc. I appreciate your comments thanx.

No.
There is nothing out there that can compete with the completeness of a GReddy kit for the price.

you can look for the old school greddy/hks/re-amimya kits that are around 300-500 and are good till about 500hp I believe.

I was looking at the greddy kit, about a grand in price. Not bad if it does a good job, and I've been told that it does a good job.

Is the greddy piping for that kit designed for the stock throttle body elbow? cause the stock one points like towards the rear of the engine bay, and not the front, an unnecessary curve.

What im trying to get at, is if you buy the greddy kit, and a proper throttle body elbow, will the kit piping still fit?

a cheaper but effective way to build a front mount kit
we al know that the complicated part of a front mount on an fc is the piping and a core could be had for 200 to 600. so for the piping if your not conscerned about cosmetics Racings Sprots Akimoto sells flexable piping for complicated turbocharger applications and the piping is rated to 50 psi
its like 90 bucks for 4 feet
i may give this a try

The Greddy kit comes with it's own 'elbow'. It's bigger too!

with the stock the HP and what psi. It heat soaks easily due to it's location and quickly loses it's ability to do anything.

Your answer makes no sense at all, except for the part that it heat soaks.

If it was mounted out the front it would do a 300hp engine without trouble, but it shouldn't be sitting on top of a 20hp engine let alone a 200hp one.

No, it did reasonably okay for it's stock boost levels - 5.5psi and 7.5psi respectively.
The TMIC is also a very compact design in terms of intercooler pipe volume.
More pipe volume means more lag.
Back in the 80's, it was all about minimizing turbo lag.
A FMIC will always induce more turbo lag, all other factors (i.e. turbo) being equal.
