Cheap Springs

I am looking for a set of cheap springs just to lower my car. I have a drift comp coming up and I don't have a lot of money. I am going to just use them for the comp and then ungrade my suspention for real later this month.

My question is, I have not found lowering springs for less then $140 and was wondering if there is a place to get cheaper ones or if other springs from other cars would fit?(ie: civic)

I have a 87 n/a base.

Why half *** it at first? Save your money for tires.

The cheapest springs I've had any experience with are the Intrax lowering springs. You can get them from summitracing.com for $220 + shipping. I never did any drifting with them, so I can't help you there.

If you can find them, I would strongly recommend RSR*Race springs (not "Down" springs). They're commonly sold used on the forum with KYB-AGX shocks. They go well together.

Are you sure competition drifting is a good hobby if you don't have the money to support it? Not trying to give you a hard time, just making an observation.

Intrax are cheap in price and cheap in quality. I don't like them and don't recommend you use them. Seriously. Save your money and buy a quality part. There will be other comp's.

Don't even waste time or money putting on shitty springs. If your shocks and stuts are toast, putting lowering springs on it will make it bounce. REALLY BAD. So you'd go out slip-slidin' around, and you car will start bouncing, and you'll probably crash. I put some cheap *** springs on my 240, just because I was tired of it looking like crap. It's the DD, so I don't really give a ****. Well the car rides like ***, but looks kinda cool. But i'm really tired of it bouncing up and down. Save your money for a real upgrade.

For those who hate on cut springs I got vid to show how well it handles compared to a normal shock spring combo. Next best thing is coilovers. Check out recproductions.net in the video section(look for my primer FC)

Thanks for the help from those that did.
BTW, my suspention is perfectly fine right now.
I have been considering cutting them or doing a really cheap thing and getting large bump stops.
I am spending my money on my engine and tires before my suspension, that is why I have no money.

So I went ahead and cut my springs today after as talking to my shop teachers to make sure that it would be ok.
I hav only done the left front so far and will do the rest tomorrow but here are a couple pic of the after. I will get before pics and do a write up on it tomorrow or Friday. It came you better then I thought.

This is how much I took off.

Cut springs are like booze.

A little is great, but too much and everything turns to ****.

I cut 1" off my 91 NA's springs with good results.

Better than lowering springs. Not better than coilovers. If you can't handle it then go elsewhere. I drive it like that and have performed well with it like that. Did better than quite a few rx7s out there with coilovers, turbos, and ls1's.
