Talking Cheap and Fast

I have an 87 sport that i completely gutted. It has the stock 6-port with nothing on it but a RB header which goes into a power pulse muffler (sounds great, not too loud) a 48 dcoe weber on a port matched RB upper intake manifold and stock lower with the port actuators and sleeves removed. With the car at 2320 pounds(including me) and running 20x8 inch E/T slicks the car ran a 14.60 with a 1.9 sec 60 foot mark. Not bad for a total cost of around $2000 The car has 192000 miles on it and roughly 150 horsepower at the wheels.

I plan on taking more weight out and doing some power mods so ill keep you up to date. Your input and advice is greatly apprieciated.

The auxillary ports(ie: 5th & 6th ports) wired to stay open all the time. Makes you lose a little low end but if they are not functioning correctly due to not enough backpressure then its an alright mod.

Hey, you should sign up for the Grassroots Motorsports $2003 challenge. You can enter the car if you spent $2003 or less on the project including the car. I'm not sure what you can win, but it sounds like fun.

I was gonna try to keep this car N/A but its too slow so im gonna put a series 5 turbo on it. Im hoping for 230 hp which will put me it the mid 12 second range. Ive completed the kit but im still waiting for the turbo to get here. I took out the headlight motors and cut a lot of metal out of the front took some other stuff out too, so im gonna weigh it tomarrow (i also got a fuel cell for it, for free) I dont have a camera so still tryin to get some pics up. I will hopefully get the turbo on this weekend! Ill keep you all informed

Hey Snerd I added up total cost of car and parts including turbo and came out to $1875 so I have some room for more upgrades. Heheh

(I get so much cool stuff for free) : turbo, intercooler, electric fan, intake piping, fuel cell, muffler, eibach coil overs........ and i only paid $20 bucks for the header
Im a cheap bastard lol

receipts and stuff. there is a loophole because you can sell parts for money and it doesn't count towards your $2003. so like if you had an rx-7 with a blown engine and sold the block for $250 or whatever, you'd actually have $2253 to spend. Get it?

Ok I weighed it: The car by itself with 3/4 full tank of gas
weighs........2145! So my hard work is paying off.

One of these days ill put the 3 gallon fuel cell and my race doors on it and weigh it again.
