Cheap Exhaust???

I dont know how you guys can afford all this aftermarket **** for your cars. To me it all seems expensive as hell. Well anyway does anyone know where I can get a decent cat-back exhaust for under $409? That is excatly how much money I have to my name and I really need a new exhaust(old one is severly rusted away). I really dont want to buy a used on from someone over the internet. So please help!!

your going to get an exhaust b/f fixing your brakes and getting tires?

go to pep boys and buy a monza muffler and have a shop put that and new pipes on. that might be too cheap though

NINER, just so you know I got the brake thing under control($15 brake pads from autozone). As for tires those will come just as soon as I get rid of the 14 inch phone dial wheels I have now. No I dont have any emmision checks to worry about. I want some kind of quality that will last a couple of years. I was thinking about the RP 50mm cat-back its like $395. Does anyone know if those are any good or not? I also kind of wanted to get better performance from whatever kind of system I do put on, any suggestions?? I will eventually get a complete system once I get the money, but for now I just want to get the cat-back so I dont have two extremmely rusted mufflers. Thanks for the help

forget the catback, just find a muffler (or mufflers) you like and get a shop to run piping for you

75-150$ per muffler, and it cant be that much to run some piping

I agree to the above. just get some mufflers if you dont need a whole new exhaust for now and definitely get some cheapo tires dont go around bald to dangerous.

If you have to have a whole cat back the RP set is nice if you go cheaper then get the Pacesetter if you have to.

I'll tell you what I did the same thing when I first started on my 7 I rushed in and got the pacesetter cause my mufflers where rusting away and I regretted not waiting to save my money on something better. I would have been happier to wait a few months and have gotten what I have now the Apex N1 single. By not waiting It took me longer to get the headers and Apex I have now.

do you have an NA or Turbo?

130 K on my car and she still has the stock exhaust system. It is very worn out. Here is what I am doing since I have very little money like you. I ordered the pacesetter headers. Next I found a shop that will make me a new exhaust system with new pipes and replace the cats and put new mufflers on. The pipes and labor will be about $300-400 so he says.

pacesetter headers: $119.99
new pipes and labor: $399.99

and hopefully all this will work out fine. it will be very loud and will give me big power gains!!!!

good luck and enjoy your new 7

what kind of mufflers and pipes are you getting for $400??? that sounds like a lot for some piping. i mean it will propably take them less than an hour to run the pipe(s) mabey a little more if they're lazy.

one thing i found about shops is that most of them smoke up (if you know what I mean) and they would probably cut you a deal if you tossed them a nug or smoked with them. it works the same way on the mountain, i go snowboarding with the green ticket ~

What is "rusted" exactly. Is the mufflers rusted and there isn't a pipe sticking out of em anymore. Or is the y pipe rusted bad?

I just got my new exhuast today and was toying with the idea of sending you one of my older ones, which is stock y piping for free-you pay shipping. Everything is working condition. That is, if it would help. I don't wanna send it unless you need it.

I could send you the presilencer too (everything except the cat, because I need that to pass emmisions) can't imagine why you need the pre silencer. Anyway, Autozone has a catalytic converter for 120.00 or something.

So that's it. You want a good y pipe, its yours. The components bolt together. However you might need new bolts cause the old ones suck and break off usually. ****, I'll even send you the mufflers, they still have the pipes coming out of them but they're not much to look at even if they do work.

A.) catalytic converter. = 120.00
b.) New mufflers.=(?)
c.) New y-pipe stock w/ no rusty holes = Cost of shipping from Colorado. Say worst case = $70.00

that's 219.00 dollars to buy muff's with.

Or skip the catalytic converter and straight pipe it!

Then that's 300 hundo to buy muff's

I wonder if UPS does postage due?

Go with a pacesetter cat-back. Its kinda ghetto, not that bad. Sounds ok and give an ok performance. Its under $200 I believe. Thats what I have.

PLEASE LISTEN TO ME!!
If you have headers, and are planning on getting a pacesetter cat-back- DON'T!
Headers make a 7 ridiculously loud. Even if you dish out 150 bucks for a stainless steel pre-silencer (fibreglas will burn out in weeks) it is still loud. The cat quiets it a bit, but not that much.
I have pacesetter headers, to a stainless Borla sportsman muffler wher the cat was, to 2 edelbrock ceramic RPM mufflers, with 8 inch long glasspack tips! That's a lot of muffling, but it's all straight through, so no backpressure. It's still loud!
You WILL regret not waiting and dishing out an extra bit for a quality exhaust, I have learned my lesson and am trying to steer other people away from that route. I'm sure others will agree with me.
Also- Pacesetter exhaust, like any glass pack on a rotary will burn out in less than a year, then you have to buy something else anyways. It's not worth it. Been there, done it, way to much.

Looks like you have a N/A soo if you need something right away cause its burning a hole in your pocket and you dont have to worry about smog laws then try this combo the Bonez 2.5" race pipe with silencer and the RP cat back. Its cheap and will bump HP a bit. First figure out if you have to open your 5th and 6th ports with the cat return split air pipe. you can rig something up for your 5and 6th ports so dont sweat it to much. Then get a cheapo air cone intake I have seen them for as low as 20 bucks
Air cone filter

and dont forget a breather filter for 12 bucks from Jegs for the air pump

soo 130 for the race pipe 395 for the RP cat back 16.95 for the filter and Ohh the apaptor for the air flow meter at Ted old place here
for 25 so 570 or so aint bad and not to far from where you are!

Or Wait to get exactly what you want!
