89-92 front nose

I know this question is asked alot but I really need to know before I attempt to get the body work started on my car. Will the newer front nose match up to my 88 gtu. I've heard several different things to consider such as the fenders and the molding as well as the bumper reinforcement. What would be the best thing for me to do.

The molding does not line up on the side of the car.

Well the actual molding itself lines up, but the style line IN the molding doesn't.

Here's a '89-'91 cap with '86-'88 fender. It looks like something I could live with. The '89-'91 moldings are about $400 new. I found mine for about $90. You probably could do the same.

I have that cap for sale!

The molding last time I checked was like $40 apiece for each side. What I really need to know is will the bumper reinforcement or the rods that hold it in place get in the way?

I've done this swap as Mike has. The bumper cap fits without a hitch. You can now add the foglights if you so desire. But, you will need the 89+ brake ducts for the front cap to fit properly. The openings on the 86-88 brakeducts are too small. Also, the styrofoam behind the 89+ bumper is a touch different. You might want to make sure you get it also. The fiberglass actual bumper piece is the same, but you will need to drill holes into it if you choose to attach the factory fog lights (Just went on EBAy for $40.00 the pair).
I think that's about it. Like I said, I just went through this. Collect the molding as you go. I've got a set for $130 and that will break me even.

Hey mike, calm down. You helped prove my point. I was only refering to the rear fender pieces which you have down at $31.15. I know the rest of the molding gets up into the $500 range.
Thank you for your help. I will be attempting that very soon along with a t2 hood I've just found.

Opps, sorry. I didn't mean to be ugly. I should have put a smiley face there.
