Cheap dual headlight conversion

I've been wanting to do a dual round headlight conversion for a long time, but not sure of what lights to buy. I just found some cheap duals tho for 35 bucks:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...PcY_BIN_Stores

All you would really have to do is just cut the retractor rods, and bolt these lights in. Is this a good idea? Anyone have photoshop to see how these would look like? Will it have enough light output? IIRC the stock headlamps are 55w. And the bulbs on ebay are also 55w each. Any help greatly appreciated.

Just cutting the retractor rods won't work. Climb under your car and actually look at the headlight mechanism and you should be able to work out why.

I highly doubt those nasty looking lights would make suitable headlights. I wouldn't touch them...

I would not use those lights for primary lights. If you want that design, at least buy the real "catz" brand lights that those are cheap copies of. There are some authentic ones on ebay.

Those are "FOG LIGHTS" not headlights. if you really want to build a decent functional kit I would think you will want to try to find some thing that utilizes an H4 style bulb.

Just a suggestion but I have always thought that the 2 round headlights looks bad on our cars. I always wanted to make a kit that used the headlights that are around 1/2 as tall as our stock ones. I guess it would kinda look like the sleepy eyes crap but they wouldnt shine through the FTPs because the whole headlight would be poped up it would just be smaller.

Look at how headlights on NSXs and newer corvettes look to see what I mean

Like I said, go and actually look at your headlight mechanism. Get someone to flick the switch a few times and watch how it works. If you can't work out why simply cutting the rod won't work, you shouldn't be attempting this.

apparently you didn't read it. if you install a switch wired into the retractor fuse you can make them go up and down. my lights go up and down like normal...i've had this setup on my car for two years and its fine.

Too bad coz that's the way it works. Like I said before, go look at the headlight mechanism as it operates and you'll see why.
