Charcoal Canister Lines **Searched**

Most of threads I found focused on deleting the canister/lines. I am trying to
figure out where one of the damn lines goes!

Application:'89 GTU's...so there are 2x lines into the top of the can and 1x at the
bottom to the atmosphere. The smaller of the two lines looks to be the vent off
the fuel tank.

The 2nd, larger line, I discovered laying next to the filter pedestal when doing my
oil/filter change. Could not find an obvious nipple where it should attach. So,
where is this line supposed to go?

Thanks.

I deleted my emissions and the rat's nest and routed the lines as such. I hope it gives you an idea

If you look under your hood.. there should be an vacuum hose routing diagram that will tell you where they go.

on the rear side of the center housing there should be a nipple. or follow the oil filler pipe down, on that housing there should be a nipple facing the firewall

Thanks for the replies. I spotted the line off the filler tube that goes to the
solenid/check-valve...will look for the 'nip facing the fire-wall.

Now I feel like an idiot...There is a nipple/line off the oil fill tube to a purge control
valve. I cannot find a second nipple for this mystery canister line.

The repair manual clearly shows the schematic for the system: 1x vent, 1x line to
the tank check valve and the 2nd line to a nipple somewhere on the filler
neck/housing.

Again this is an '89 NA...which appears to be the same as the turbo schematic.
Maybe I just need glasses, or better yet plug the damn thing and be done with it.

Having this issue as well. I been trying to look for a outlet to plug the charcoal canister hose into for awhile and I have not found it. Maybe I'm blind, but can someone post a picture where both charcoal canister hoses plugs in to? please!!

Big line plus into the intermediate iron next to where it says "MAZDA" under where the PCV plugs into. Little line plugs into a line coming from the gas tank on the firewall behind the oil filter.

well technically yes, but the difference is going to be less than 1 horsepower from the additional fuel vapors. being that those vapors are completely atomized the difference is probably more like .1 horsepower.

Yes!
Don't listen to the "experts".

Also be sure to delete the thermowax for a cooler intake charge and the BAC valve because it' just ugly.

Also for extra 25+ HP, wire open your aux ports.

PS
everything stated above may or may not be true.

and add a spoiler and racing stripes. That will add ten more horsepower. These experts dont know what they are talking about.
