changing my exhaust..too loud!

my exhaust consist of Rb headers to presilencer to magnaflow muffler on a NA...so ya its way to loud. i'm hearing alot of good things about the Borla XR-1.. can i use this as my final muffler or should i try and put it in between my pre-silencer and magnaflow if it fits? any other suggestions would be great.

Buy a new cat-back or replace th presilencer with the Borla.

well here is what ive been told. borla, magnaflow and stuff like that really cant hold up to the heat that the rotarie produces. what i have is rb header, rb presilencer, and apexi gt cat back. and it sounds really nice. yea its loud too but the apexi catback comes with i silercer that you put in the muffler. alo i think the n1 catback has the silencer too.

ya but im not really feeling like paying 450$ for a catback. the borla XR-1 is packed with stainless steel so it should stand up i think.

Any muffler that uses all SS construction, including the sound deadening material, will hold up to the heat.

The Borla works fine. Made a world of difference on my friend's TII. He bought the entire Corksport exhaust and it was just way too loud. Dropped in the XR-1 as a pre-silencer, sounds great. I have an old HKS one, (the one that came with thier TII system), in place of the main cat on my NA. Still a little louder than I wanted, but much better than a hollowed cat or straight pipe.

I have the same problem with my 87 n/a rx-7, i bought it from a guy and he put rb header, resinator and a magnaflow muffler at the end with 3 " piping, so what i'm going to do is buy, duals with silencers and run them after the resinator with 3" piping, so when i want to be loud i could take the plugs out.....that'd work for me.....or is that a bad idea?

I would just finish it with RB. I love the sound of my RB exhaust. I do have a friend that bought some OBX mufflers of Ebay for his 7 does not sound to bad but is a bit louder than my RB. The OBX were steel packed as well.

3" pipe is a bad idea. 2.25-2.5 is fine. If you run 2 pre-silncers, it should be pretty quiet.

i plan on using it as a muffler and just welding a tip onto it....that is unless it can fit between my presilencer and present muffler, but i dont know about that

I still beleive its a stupid idea to put an inline muffler there. Its just added weight and gives a shitty look.

Put the muffler inline or get a different cat-back, Magnaflow also has mainly styles available. Check it out.
