I always stuff steel wool in the intake while the car is in the barn over the winter. Two years ago I got my 88 vert I out of storage and fired her up but on the road she was sluggish.
Took the air filter cover off, a mouse nest just like this on top of the filter

That's some crazy ****. I too had a mouse when my car was stored outside. They had made it into the vents inside. I caught him when I popped the hood one day.

When I first bought my car there was a mouse smashed between my pass carpet and floorboard. Couldn't even recognize it.

Ok. Mouse story time, I guess. A couple years ago, Cali emission police added a test of the fuel vapor recovery system...including a pressure test of the fuel tank. Vert #1 failed miserably. After a lot of head scratching and troubleshooting, I dropped the fuel tank. One cold winter, a mouse had nested on top of the fuel tank and nibbled through the vent line. What fun!

Steel wool works great, they don't chew on it.

We should add rats living in our cars to the "you know if you're an rx7 owner if..." list

My car sat in a barn for a few years. Apparently a mouse had babies in the duct/windshield cowl vent area, I think where the heater sucks air, but they didn't get out and died in there. I was worried about running the heater in fear of Hantavirus...
