Btw, what's the thing in the middle for? That's where the idiot light cluster goes right? So is it still going to be visible or is that for something else

I'm confused... is it going to cover the stock dash or replace it completely? Replacing it would be sweet, it would look cool and save a few pounds, but just putting it on top seems kinda silly.

thats why god invented stretchable fabric. you should have used that. it would have taken you simply two days tto fab the whole thing up.

i think that you should make a kind of hole where the idiotlights are so that they can justcome through. and we don't have to relocate them or anything like that.

A fleece or even a low grade cotton from those $3 for 5 shirt packages would have worked out better. However you can not retain the strength with these.
Using them however as a shaping or covering works out fine!
However ALWAYS reinforce with actual matt or cloth!

Havent watched this thread closely enough- mabey I can come and work with ya one day and get a good design out.

so if i wanted to make something i could use sometype of fleece or cotton to get the mold then i could put a type of resin on it to make it hard then use a matt(cloth) for the final? what type of resin and also what type of cloth? thanks.

well see the thing is it is gonna have the CARBON FIBER look to it
so no cloth no. as far as the progress goes it is VERY impressive, everybody says that they will do something but they are not doing it at the end. but Dltreezan actually is doing what he says and getting it done. rock on for the FC community!!!!

Sub9lulu I have read the thread, I know how he wants it to turn out.
Ive been doing glass work for years. Yes I think its great he is doing this, but like he has said, he has had no past experiance and is doing this from what he picks up and has seen before.
I have messaged him before offering help, not to mention I live 20 minutes away.

And you would want to use a cloth or a fleece. Just because its going to have a carbon fiber look means jack **** for when you build it up. A first layer of fleece used to get the shape, a bottom layer of fiberglass matt or cloth for reinforcment, and the carbon fiber on the top.

Its pretty simple. And watch the aditude a bit in your post, some people on here do know what they are talking about.

it is actually supposed to sit on top of the dash. This is simple. i am making this and using all kinds of stuf to make the plug and then i will make a simple mold from this and then a copy from carbon fiber that covers the entire dash. This is for those people that want to change the entire look of the dash. To hell with cloth, and if my only object was to smooth look the dash i would have done that but it isnt just for me and not something i can reproduce, and like spyder said try knowing what you are talking about and what stage I am at right now. For now I am trying to get the general shape down and then make a mold. From the mold I will make a copy from carbon fiber that hopefully will fit well enough. Problem is that the fiberglass cures, and then really cures a while after you pull it from the mold so it shrunk just a wee bit, plus u have to imagine the urethane foam pushing and pulling a bit as well, so i wil have to make adjustments I am sure, but all is well. If it turns out good it turns out good. If it turns out like crap then hey at least I had the ***** to make an attempt at an idea that I said i would make. And as far as the spyder goes, dude I PMed you when you first ofeered me help and i havrent got anything back...ah i have to post...sasser sumbitch...46 seconds left
