Sounds like you have air in your clutch hydraulic system. You should check it out. Your clutch hose could be rotted or a master or slave cylinder could have gone bad.

Bleed your Clutch.
You had to take it off the trans to get at the Clutch.right?
you lost your Hydraulic pressure when you did that.
East fix though.
Suggestion: I replaced my Clutch line, and Had ONE hell of a time bleeding the Clutch...solution?.a One Man Brake bleeding Kit.
put the clear hose over the slave nipple.put enough fluid In the bottle to cover the hose on the Inside ofthe bottle(prevents air from going Back into the Slave.
get your Buddy to Press the Clutch.Crack the Bleeder.(spitt!).Tighten the bleeder..Repeat again...look at the clear hose for bubbles.Repeat until the pedal feels good again.
..Caution: you must make sure that there is Fluid In the master,ALWAYS. (or else you have to start from Scratch bleeding the Clutch, all over again).
IF you do the Clutch without the cap on,It will Feel "funky".
make sure the Cap is on when bleeding. That way the Clutch Hydraulics are Sealed and do their job of Creating pressure from the Master to the Slave..GOOD LUCK!.Styx!~

Just unbolting the slave cylinder from the bellhousing doesn't have any effect on the hydraulics although it is possible he has air in the system.
Rebleeding is certainly the easiest first thing to try before getting medieval on it's ***.

I took the slave off the trans,It was still on the Hose, etc,.when I did the Pressure pushed the Plunger out.
So,in order to get it back I had to Push the plunger up against the Fork, while Cracking the Bleeder. That method worked fine.I got my Hydraulics back.
But now, since changing the hose,I had Lost everything and had to Bleed it all over again.
Now,Back to OP.
it may be that the Clutch feels Different than that of the Stock one,due to the pressure plate, but highly unlikely
To me,after me getting almost Every Scenario possible to Happen to the Clutch,it Does sound like Air.
