Ouch! I got my ACT 6 puck for $250 Cdn.

Don't know anything about the Centerforce but the ACT is a monster. I can't imagine driving without it.

Centerforce has been making good clutches for RX-7's since before some of the people on this forum were born. However, their new Dual Friction Clutch (totally different from what you have) is prone to installation error, but is otherwise an excellent, award-winning clutch. The Centerforce I which you have is comparable to the original RX-7 clutch, and will work just fine with your mods. Retail for the Centerforce I and throw-out bearing is about $350 USD ($550 CAD), but most US vendors sell it for about $300 USD ($475 CAD).

The Centerforce is comparable to the OEM?

My OEM clutch couldn't take much of a pounding and its eventual failure was what led me to the ACT...

Just my experience on that...

No, the Centerforce I is comparable to the OEM, the Centerforce II will hold more torque, and the Centerforce Dual Friction will hold the most torque AND has a light pedal feel.

Yes, the OEM clutch cannot take much of a pounding, and neither can the Centerforce I. However, a simple intake and straight pipe exhaust shouldn't tax these clutches unless they are incorrectly installed or the driver needs driving lessons. Yes, there isn't much room for growth with the Centerforce I, if that's what you are getting at.

Just for clarification on the clutch issue, I think that ACT offers a better value in most situations. However, Centerforce also makes good products, and I find it very sad when some people on this forum go out of their way to trash products without any understanding whatsoever of the product line. Yes folks, there is more than one type of Centerforce clutch, and more than one type of ACT clutch, as amazing as it may sound.

I run a CFDF and have had zero problems with it.&nbsp It seems I'm the minority when it comes to this clutch in an FC (turbo).

I've abused the bejeezus out of it without any signs of slipping - 17 drag runs in 30 minutes, smoked the clutch easily on 4 of those runs.&nbsp I've had the clutch out NUMEROUS times - wear is even, and it looks like it'll get maybe 25k to 30k on my currrent unit.

The clutch seems to handle up to 300bhp pretty easily.

I think the key to getting these things to work nicely in an FC is a prolonged and religious break-in.&nbsp I had to break my newly rebuilt motor at the same time, and this lasted 2,000 miles.

Prices for the CFDF is about $300, street price US $.&nbsp For the money, I would've gone ACT.&nbsp ACT just has the better rep, and these things hold another 100more hp easily.

ACT is the standard, period.&nbsp I don't mess with anything else (for under 500hp).

I had the dual friction on my 88 when it was an n/a with no problems at all. Now the car has over 400 rwhp and I still have no problems with it. I would buy an ACT as well. I used to have the Bonez street/strip clutch and it hella sucked! I killed it faster than a stock clutch. Overpriced POS!

I had zero problems with the CFDF in my TII (I was owner #2), and it still works great for the new owner (#3). Owner #1 beat the snot out of it with lots of sidestepping and pulling high 13's at the drag strip.

Never tried them, and I don't know of anybody who has. Sorry.

Through my mechanic. He can still get them at that price (I bought mine a year ago.) This price is for JUST the clutch. Not the full-on ACT racing set up or anything like that.
