just gut them.... There are good posts on how to gut cats

gutted cats and stock mufflers will still have enough PSI to open the ports I think there only needs to be like 1.28 psi for them to open or something

Only gut them if you want a bazillion leaks and a SHITTY sound. I would float the cash and get a hi flo.

Leaks? where from how? I gutted all three of my cats, no leaks here. Shitty sound is a very subjective comment, I liked the sound of my N/A with gutted cats and 2.5in straight pipe from the cat-back.

How long have you been running them gutted? Before I had exhaust, I gutted mine. Sounded like ****. Leaks popped up left and right. Everyone Ive known with gutted cats has developed leaks and shitty sounding backfires.

When I say shitty sound, I am comparing the tinny sound of gutted cats on a stock system with the much throatier sound from my solid 3"...which doesnt even compare.

Well I dunno what you did wrong but I didn't/dont have any leaks. I would've described my exhaust as deeper AFTER I gutted my cats, mind you I added my cat-back 2.5in straight pipe at the same time.
